The cheetah is
the fastest animal on land and can reach speeds up to 60 mph (100 kph) over short
distances. It is perfectly suited to hunt and kill antelope. Yet, after making
a kill, it has to rest for a few minutes so its heart rate can return to normal.
During this time the cheetah is vulnerable, and a hyena, leopard or lion, can
steal its kill. | | |
They make chirping
noises to communicate with their young. However, only 5% of cheetah cubs survive
to adulthood because stronger predators, like hyenas and lions, prey on them. |
