Giraffes are calm, tranquil and have an elegance about them that transcends their awkward appearance. On the road back to the lodge, we spot some magnificent plains giraffes, casually browsing the treetop greenery. Plains giraffe have a jagged, butterfly pattern to their spots. Reticulated (or Rothchilds) giraffe have a more brick-like pattern.

Did you know...
* A Giraffe has only seven neck vertebrae, just like a human.
* A Giraffe can clean its ears with its 21-inch tongue.
* A group of Giraffes is called a 'journey'.

The tip of the giraffe's tail is dark and fuzzy, and is commonly mistaken for something jumpin' on him.
